WATER FOR ALL SUMMIT 2021The Hardest Working River
Virtual Event
March 25 - 26
The 2021 virtual Water for All Summit brought together industry leaders to learn more about sustainable water resource management and discuss real issues that impact our shared water supply.
Each day from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., we focused on planning ahead and working together to protect the ecological integrity and extend the resources of the Catawba-Wateree River.

Day 1: Competing Priorities
We ask a lot of the Catawba-Wateree River. As a vital natural resource, the river provides water resources for approximately two million people. The Catawba-Wateree River is a biodiverse natural environment that is an essential habitat for many animals and plants and a recreational amenity for residents and visitors. The river supports about 25 percent of Duke Energy’s total generating capacity in the Carolinas, powering over four million homes.
With so many uses, it’s no surprise there are competing priorities in how we approach water supply and quality. Join our panel of experts from various industries and perspectives to discuss the tradeoffs necessary to meet the greatest need in our region.

Day 2: Water & Public Health
Water is a necessary element of life and public health. The Summit will feature leading experts and researchers to address the challenges facing water resources management and water treatment systems as we deal with natural disease outbreaks such as COVID-19 and Legionella, as well as man-made threats such as PFAS and lead. On the other hand, the wastewater produced in the region can hold keys to understanding the presence and spread of disease.
