In-Person Event March 30, 2022
The recent signing of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) brings the single largest investment in water the government has ever made. So, what does this mean for us at a local level?
In the Catawba-Wateree region, we have aging infrastructure, infrastructure in need of upgrades, changing demands and new technologies. And many of these infrastructure needs are interrelated.
This Summit will bring together industry leaders across our Basin to talk about what infrastructure means when it comes to the Catawba-Wateree, trends in future infrastructure investments, and how we can work together to position ourselves for better investments.
From 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. we will focus on how we can plan ahead and work together – across jurisdictional lines, industries, and interests – to position ourselves for better investments to extend the resources of the Catawba-Wateree River. We hope you will join us for this special event!
The recent signing of the IIJA brings the single largest investment in water that the federal government has ever made.
Infrastructure helps our region and its main source of water become more resilient in the face of change. As our water supplies and demands evolve, regional collaboration can help support efficient use of the infrastructure investment. That’s why the theme for this year’s Summit focuses on investments in our infrastructure.
IIJA provides a unique opportunity for utilities over the next five years – funding over each of the next five years would exceed the funding levels in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which only provided funding for one year.
$77B+ in both authorizations and appropriations is provided for water infrastructure over the next five years. Authorizations are subject to future appropriations.
The CWWMG is closely monitoring CDC guidelines and taking all necessary precautions to ensure the Water for All Summit is a safe gathering. We ask that all unvaccinated attendees wear a mask for the duration of the event when unable to social distance. The following measures will be implemented at the venue to foster safety for all attendees:
In addition to infrastructure investments, the Summit will include discussions on several topics that are important to improving the resilience of the Basin. Topics include:
